The Mystery of Sri Jagannath
Sri Jagannath is Krishna himself, absorbed in the overwhelming ecstasy of Radharani's love. When Krishna hears the gopis' songs of Vrindavan, his limbs withdraw, his eyes grow wide, and he becomes the form we worship as Jagannath.
जगन्नाथः स्वामी नयनपथगामी भवतु मे
jagannāthaḥ svāmī nayana-patha-gāmī bhavatu me
May that Jagannath Swami be the object of my vision.
The Chariot of the Heart
The Rath Yatra is the pulling of Krishna from Kurukshetra back to Vrindavan — the devotees, in the mood of the residents of Vraja, draw the Lord back into the intimacy of pure loving service.
